Two Months Smoke Free!!

flower flower Today is my two month Smober-versary!!! As a PH Butt Kicker, I get to add another flower to my signature. Each flower represents one month of saying N.O.P.E!! Not One Puff Ever!! I thought flowers would be a great choice since I no longer smell like smoke. :) I feel wonderful and proud of myself. I've been working out or walking 5-6 days a week and I never could have done that when I was smoking.

Today my QuitKeeper says:

I have been quit for 2 Months, 14 hours, 55 minutes and 37 seconds (61 days). I have saved $154.05 by not smoking 1,232 cigarettes. I have saved 4 Days, 6 hours and 40 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 5/25/2008 7:00 AM

I'm just so thrilled!!! I feel very comfortable and in control. I don't ever want to go back to being a smoker again!! :)

See ya next time! :o)

What the Hell????

As you know, I quit smoking on May 25th. It's been going really well. :)

My plan was to start walking around the neighborhood, both as a distraction to lighting up and as more movement to hopefully ward off some of the expected weight gain. What has happened to me is kinda blowing my mind. I've never been a sporty, athletic person. I've never, ever liked exercise. I'm mostly a couch potato so I figured any small amount of extra movement (like walking) would be good. I started walking when when I started my quit. I started with a 1/2 mile, then1 mile, then a mile and a half.

The next thing I knew I was buying a workout DVD because I couldn't walk on rainy days and I MISSED IT. WTH????? LOL
So not only am I DOING it.....I'm LOVING it!!! WTH??????? Confused Confused Confused I mean it's great but I just don't get it. I keep waiting for the "newness" and "excitement" to wear off, for the honeymoon period to be over .... and I thought it would happen a hell of a lot sooner than this. LOL

Steve said to me yesterday, "I'm so proud of you. You are really doing this. And it doesn't seem like a chore for you." Yeah.....WTH?????????? Question Question Question Question Question Question

I'm doing the Walk Away The Pounds DVD. I got it at Walmart for 14 bucks and it included three different workouts AND the weighted balls. I did the 1 mile walk and now I'm doing the 2 mile walk...with weights!! So far, I have not gained any weight so my plan is working. I'm working out or walking 5-6 days a week.

The other day I was stressing BAD and craving BAD....but something odd happened. I wanted EITHER a smoke ....OR a workout. Like either one would help me feel better. WTH???? LOL I'm surprised and a little confused but happy. Go figure. LOL

See ya next time! :o)

Future Plans

Some of you know that Michael graduated this year and has been considering the Marines. He was to audition for the Marine band and then it was postponed. Some of you also know that I have been very torn because I want this great opportunity for him and yet I'm SO not ready to let him go. But I have been very supportive and kinda just cried by myself at the thought that he'd be leaving in the fall if all went as planned with the Marines. Okay that was the background.

Lately, he has been floundering on the decision about the Marines. And now since the postponement of his audition he is really not sure that this is what he wants to do. He doesn't want to go to college either. He's been stressed about making a decision to do something. And even though I would miss him so terribly, I have been trying to push him towards sticking with the Marine plan because I didn't want the decision to be made out of summer time laziness.

Steve and I finally spoke with him this morning and it turns out that he is just not ready to leave home yet. He just turned 18 and he's not ready. Well, I can't tell you how wonderful that makes me feel. I'M not ready yet either! LOL I was just going along because I thought that's what he wanted and maybe he did at one point but he's unsure now and just wants to stay here with us for awhile.

When we told him he could stay as long as he wants and he didn't have to be out because he was 18, it looked like we just took a ton of weight off of him. It feels like a ton of weight off of me too. Steve also joked that if he was still here when he was 30, we'd have to talk. LOL He has a job interview tomorrow and we will talk more about him paying some sort of rent/food/board kind of deal later after he gets it. (more for responsibility than anything else) and he can at least take a breath and work for awhile while deciding what to do with the rest of this life. After the talk he said, Mom I wanted to stay but I didn't know if you guys wanted me to stay. Sad I hugged him and said, Are you kidding!!??? LOL

So, I can't tell you how happy I am that he is staying. I surely wasn't ready for Kristi to go (what a shocker it was when she left ...I'm 18 and I'm outta here.) and I wasn't ready for Mikey to go either.

I'm a happy mama hen. I get to keep middle chick in the nest for a little bit longer. Smile

Wal*Mart Hotline!

My brother Joe often calls me from Wal*Mart because he knows I know the store like the back of my hand and can usually tell him where to find things he is looking for. The conversation is very formal and goes something like this:

Me: *picking up the phone* Hello?

Joe: Yes, hello. Is this the Wal*Mart hotline?

Me: Yes, sir. How can I help you today?

Joe: Well, I'm in Wal*Mart and I can't find the cream of mushroom soup. Can you help me?

Me: Yes, sir. I'd be happy to help.

Joe: Now do you need to know what store I'm in? Or are all Wal*Mart stores the same?

Me: Well, no sir, all Wal*Mart stores are not exactly the same but I can tell by the number you are calling me from and the area code on your cell phone that you must be calling from the South Boston store. Is that correct?

Joe: Wow, you can tell what store I'm in just from my cell number? That's great! Yes I am in the South Boston store.

Me: Alright, sir. Cream of mushroom soup will be in the soup aisle. I believe that is aisle number 10. Can you locate aisle number 10, sir?

Joe: Okay, aisle 10...yes here it is and yes this is the soup aisle.

Me: Alright, sir. If you go to the end of the aisle towards the back of the store, on the left, about 3 or 4 shelves down, you should find cream of mushroom soup in several sizes. Can you see the cream of mushroom soup, sir?

Joe: Oh my gosh!! Yes, that's right! Here it is!! On the fourth shelf down on the left. Thank you very much!!!

Me: You're very welcome, sir. Is there anything else I can help you with today?

Joe: No, that will do it. Thank you!

We hang up.

Now here's the funny part. A few minutes later Joe calls me back and he is laughing his ass off. He can barely talk because he's laughing so hard. He tells me that apparently a lady was listening to his end of the conversation and after he hung up, she said to him, "Excuse me, I couldn't help but over hear...Wal*Mart has a hotline???? Can I get that number from you???"

Bwahahahahahaa!!! Joe had to stand there and tell her that he had called his sister and there was no Wal*Mart hotline. She was so disappointed. LOL She wanted that number bad! LOL

Hmmm, maybe I could make money at this. What do those 900 numbers charge? $4.95 an hour? That could come in handy. ;)

See ya next time! :o)

Happy Birthday, my little girl!

Dear Kristi,

My little girl. I can't believe you are 21. It seems like just yesterday that you were serving us a 2 year old's version of make-believe tea and spaghetti made of necklaces from your Little Tykes kitchen and warning us to blow because it was "berry berry hot"!

I am so proud of the beautiful, intelligent, capable woman you've become and I love you very much.

Happy 21st birthday, my little punkin girl. I'm glad you had a great time at your surprise party.

I love you!

Love,
Mom

See ya next time. :o)

Butt Kickers!!

I'm happy to report we are on week seven of our quit!! Right now my Quitkeeper says:

I have been quit for 1 Month, 2 Weeks, 1 Day, 16 hours, 7 minutes and 56 seconds (45 days). I have saved $114.17 by not smoking 913 cigarettes. I have saved 3 Days, 4 hours and 5 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 5/25/2008 7:00 AM

I am very excited about this and have started a quitter's club called the Butt Kickers

I'm hoping to be able to encourage others who want to quit. I know that I never want to go back to smoking and if others are even considering quitting, maybe joining this support group will help them kick the habit and say N.O.P.E. once and for all. N.O.P.E. stands for Not One Puff Ever.

See ya next time! :o)
